Lowering the environmental impact by reducing CO2 emissions is imperative for us all. RIZZINOX is proud to play its part by recycling both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. By annually recovering and reintroducing tens of thousands of tons of steel scrap into the production cycle, we actively contribute to saving significant quantities of raw materials, which we understand carry a high environmental cost in terms of greenhouse gas emissions from extraction activities.

STAINLESS INOX

Stainless steel is an iron-based alloy that combines the typical mechanical properties of steel with unique characteristics of corrosion resistance. Discovered by the Englishman Harry Brearley of Sheffield in 1913 while experimenting with steel for gun barrels, he found that a steel sample containing 13-14% chromium and relatively high carbon content (0.25%) did not rust when exposed to the atmosphere.

This rust resistance was later explained by the passivation of chromium, which forms an extremely thin, continuous and stable oxide film on the surface. Further advancements in metallurgy between the 1940s and 1960s expanded stainless steel's development and applications.
